I liked the Lexie flashbacks, man she was around for so long. Sad times.

I thought the whole Lexie Approves of EJami bit was heavy-handed. I do like EJ and Sami having some kind of connection, but I still don't ship them romantically.

Ari and Shawn have good chemistry, but the whole "lets recap things we both already know so the viewers are properly primed for our interactions" was also heavy-handed. Also is Rebecca back to being the love of Daniel's life? Chloe and Jennifer are just bygones?

The "The Johnson brothers are bad husbands who are bad at marriage bad bad bad" stuff was annoying, much as I'm trying to be a grown up about this. ETA: I agree that it's super weird how they reacted to Steve's texts in light of not only Jack's recent history but how they just made a Jack and Steve comparison. If not Jennifer, why didn't Jack himself stop to point out that maybe there's more than meets the eye here? It's sloppy.

Does anyone remember when Lexie approved of EJ and Sami?

I assumed it was sometime in the Johnny has cancer scare time but haven't been able to find it.

I know she approved of EJ and the one that shouldn't be spoken of. Was Sami approval pre or post this debacle.

Lexie thought Nicole was "the lesser of two evils." He told her this when EJ, Theo and her were sitting at the Brady pub. Lexie tried to think of a woman for him and he was noticing Nicole (funny enough...talking to Dan) at the bar. Then Lexie noticed his eye wandering towards her. She knew right away that he was interested in her.

I just watched the episode, and I too enjoyed it very much. It was a very nice tribute to Lexie, very touching and well made. I would have liked it if the whole episode was dedicated to her, instead of being split between this very important occasion and Nicole and Daniel. They could have saved that for the next episode. I don't like that they're involving Nicole with other men while she's pregnant with another. It's also very remeniscent of Sami's pregnancy storyline when she was involved with Rafe. The audience generally dislikes recycled storylines, myself included.

I did enjoy the Ejami scenes. I though they were very appropriate, and tastefuly done. I liked the fact that Sami brought the kids over, and I liked that they touched on Sami's past, bringing home the point that she is not that different than EJ.

All in all, a good episode.

Wow....that exceeded my low expectations. They gave Lexie the final send off that she deserved.

tomorrow's episode sounds really good

I can't wait to see it, and I love the little recap of Lexie's history (good and bad) combined with flashbacks, it sounds like a very fitting tribute and send off, however it would have been nice if they would have mentioned that RoJohn was the one who set Abe and Lexie up, but other than that everything else sounds wonderful and I'm looking forward to seeing it

Thanks Pat and Skye :)
I just have to comment on your John and Marlena photo, I loved that moment and the kiss. They cut the scene to soon, it made me wanting to see more.
me too! That was my favorite part of the whole episode, John and Marlena hadn't had a scene like that in a long time, it was nice to see them finally get a scene alone with just the two of them  , and yea they did cut it too soon, I would have liked to see more also but I guess at this point I'll take what I can get... The romance factor is seriously lacking from the show right now, J&M used to be one of the most romantic couples on the show and now they're barely even seen together :shame: ... I'm hoping TomSel can bring that back
one thing more thing I enjoyed this week with John and Marlena, they did something I always loved watching them do and that is dance. Even in the background, I sooooo loved watching them background dance.

I sincerely hope I do NOT have to see EJ crouching over to dance with a slug after that smokin' tango with the long-legged Nicole.

Wow,... talk about awkwardness between EJAMI. EJ really does still loves her... *sighs*

I feel so bad for EJ... losing her sister, losing his father, now being accused by the cops of murder, having Rafe deal with and his smugness and tries to bring Ej down....no friends left in the world, .. and his love for Sami that is never returned due to different reasons. One can see that Sami has some kind of feelings for him but she tries so hard to deny it.. at least in my eyes.

Anyways, loved the Lexie parts.. I loved that character will all my heart. When she was a Dimera it was so entertaining. Her fights with Sami etc..

I am curious. What exactly did you see in the scene for you to believe EJ loves Sami?

LOL, I love this... yeah, I agree... I do think those two could be really hot together and finally we might get the old Nicole back. I am really disliking this current SL with her.. its ruined her.

Besides, that Greg-dude is hot!! I hope he really bring something interesting to the show.

Seriously. These last 2 episodes of this show have been the best back2back episodes I've seen in YEARS and the closest thing I've seen to the REAL Days of our Lives in longer than I really care to remember. I loved how many different storylines were touched upon within the episode and nothing felt overly dragged out. Topics were brought up, given the appropriate amount of time/discussion, and then we moved on. And there was a significant movement of time within this episode. Daniel/Nicole started out at the hospital. Went to dinner. Had dinner. Went their separate ways. Came back together. In any other episode, we would've skipped dinner all together & they would've stood and talked about the same damn thing for the full episode. I liked how Daniel brought up his wife's death because it made logical sense in context of the story (wow. Days made logical sense. who woulda thunk it?) and served to LOGICALLY explain why he has issues with funerals. Nicole essentially being persona non grata with EJ would keep her away, but I thought it would've been a nice touch to have Nicole there for Abe since he is the father of her brother (although I do admit that I liked that Brandon was mentioned).

Speaking of random mentions, when was the last time anyone mentioned Jonah?! Or The Pacifier?!

And, FINALLY, someone fucking remembers that Lexie & Sami didn't like one another! And that fucking flashback was made of SO. MUCH. CAMPY. WIN.

I know some people are bitching, but I liked having the younger characters involved because any time an event like this happens, it's good writing to allow other stories to be touched upon so, for me, it made logical sense (there's that word again).

I liked that Kayla discussed Steve with both Jack/Jennifer and Bo/Hope. It made sense. Although I have hard time believing that Steve would just run off, I do like it that they're playing it like the characters are just as confused and troubled by it. And considering Stephen Nichols isn't coming back any time soon, I'll suffer through it just to have MBE stick around. The only truly false note for me, however, were those GIANT Abe/Lexie anvils dropping. I wish they'd give us at least a moment to breathe before they start pairing them together. Not everyone has to be partnered up all the damn time.

I can't believe how much I'm actually enjoying Daniel/Nicole. IMO, they've got just the right amount of chemistry and I can't believe how WELL they're being written. I like them both calling each other on their shit (Nicole is the ONLY woman on the show who ever calls Daniel being a manwhore!) and that antagonistic push/pull they have going on is such CLASSIC Days couple set-up. IMO, I don't think the show has set up a potentential couple so well (and so old school!) in years. Duller than dirt Cameron & Abby need to take note.

And I'm far from a EJ/Sami shipper, but I really appreciated their scenes today and FINALLY saw this big chemistry everyone always said they had (but I have never been able to see through her screaching & his windmill arms). I thought both AS & JS really did a nice job underplaying their scenes and getting right to the emotion of them. Although I still have issues with an EJ/Sami pairing due to the WTFeries of their history, this at least makes me interested in seeing more and whether the writing can logically support moving forward with them as a couple. And before people start bitching about EJ/Sami having a moment (oh, who the fuck am I kidding?), EJ/Nicole had a nice moment yesterday. I just wish there was more consistant storyline direction for whatever the fuck is going on with Lucas/Sami/EJ/Nicole/Daniel because I don't fucking have a clue what I'm supposed to spending my time emotionally investing in. IMO, EJ really needs a talk-to character unconnected to either Nicole & Sami where we as an audience can understand where the fuck he's coming from because, as it stands now, we're left to guess based on inconsistant writing for the character. As EJ's current lacky, Will might be a good candidate, but his connection to Sami would rule him out. IMO, EJ really needs a henchman/confidante.

Finally (sigh), I LOVED that this show actually played a REAL FUCKING SONG. I could give a rat's ass that it was Austin & Carrie's because, to be honest, I'd totally forgotten that it was Austin & Carrie's. lol And I didn't find everyone dancing that unusual because I hear all the time about people insisting that they want their funerals to be parties and life celebrations with music and dancing. And considering that it was very specifically stated that Lexie is the one who made all of the arrangements for this after service gettogether, I thought it made perfect sense. And I loved that it was finally acknowledged about Lexie keeping Zach. And when Marlena read Shakespear as we did those beautiful flashbacks (Lexie's "Queen of Hearts" Mother of the Year dress!) I became a total wreck. IMO, MarDar's funeral for Lexie blew Higley's funeral for Alice out of the water.

Dare I say that yesterday & today combined are damn near Emmy worthy? If these 2 eps aren't on the show's short list for submission consideration come Emmy time, I'll be damned surprised.
I just had to quote this because I agree 100% on what you said about both Thursday and Friday. Friday was no shock given a Culliton wrote it. These two episodes had to be the best all around Days episodes in years. The music cues and other technical aspects, the acting, the writing, the pacing...perfect. Past stories were highlighted, present story moved, and groundwork was laid for future story. This is what soap opera should be. The episodes have definitely been showing a little improvement in flow and execution lately so I do wonder if because this was all material at the end of MarDar's tenure that maybe the writing team took on more responsibility and juggled some stuff around. Whatever the case, Thursday and Friday were more than improvements. The show felt like a completely different show than it's been in a long time.

My only nitpick is that Maggie should've been there as it was her restaurant and she and Lexie did interact enough to warrant her being there. That's a minor nitpick though. I love that they used an actual song too, even if it was Austin and Carrie's.

I also have to commend them on how they are laying the groundwork for Kayla and Abe and how they are progressing Daniel and Nicole. I LOVE that they brought up how Daniel was with Chloe, Nicole's best friend, and Nicole helped keep Chloe's secrets from Daniel. I also love that they brought up the time Daniel came to Nicole's rescue when EJ tried to kill her and they bonded at his apartment when she broke down over her miscarriage. I only wish they showed a flashback. This pairing actually has build up because you can rely on that past interaction as well as Daniel helping Nicole the past few months. The fact that both characters would be characters to have sex first and develop feelings for each other later also plays to Days' current way of writing couples. AZ and SC have the chemistry and the characters work well together. i like how they call each other out on each other's past. My only worry is that putting them together long-term could end up isolating them from the canvas since Nicole has almost no friends or family on the show and Daniel has a flimsy connection to Maggie and Victor and that's it.

Loved the choice of flashbacks and all the history mentions to Lexie's past. I was glad we got Jonah and Brandon mentions as those were needed. Loved bringing up what Lexie did to Bo and Hope too. KA did a great job with Hope's toast. She always does well with scenes like that. Deidre Hall was brilliant in that final scene too as she read that perfectly chosen poem during the montage. What a beautiful montage too! They even got the "evil queen" dress in there!

And the Sami and EJ scenes were the best scenes between these two since their first 6 months airing in scenes together IMO. AS and JS played everything perfectly. Loved the awkwardness and tension. That is how the scenes should be played and written. There should always be a mixture of so many emotions there. It should never be too friendly or too hateful. Good stuff.

This just goes to show you it's not necessarily the head writers but the scriptwriters and writing team that make all the difference. I don't give MarDar much credit for this because the stories are still awful but the writing team and scriptwriters put together two masterful episodes on Thursday and Friday. Hopefully, with Tomsell, the stories will improve because if the writing team can churn out scripts like Thursday and Friday and we have better stories to go with them, the show will really be in fantastic shape.

I adored the flashbacks and all things Lexie related.

Sami & EJ, while less annoying then usual...still make me want to hurl. Mostly cuz I'm sick to death of both of them.

Daniel & Nicole are actually entertaining me. Color me (orange?) suprised!

Did not enjoy Kayla bitching about Steve at the memorial. Felt ripped off by getting one quick Jack scene where he said some very un-Jack-like things. But maybe I'm just bitter.

In any case the absolute highlight for me was Marlena at the end. Love her!!!

Also, when making the toast why did Hope keep looking at Gabi? lol

Lastly...I hate hate HATE Frankenleno and BT's Celeste. Missing Tanya Boyd soooo hard. Glad BT will be gone soon. But I did liek that she had some actual Celeste-like things to say today to EJ.

I guess my television decided to have mercy on me and show me something else, because I did not see the slug and the mayor dancing. Whew! I always fear for JS's back around the slug. I have seen him staggering under its weight twice. Not pretty.

Finally catching up on a month's worth of DVR episodes...

The pimping of Abe and Kayla is getting more pronounced. Not sure how I still feel about it.

Loved the episode though!
